Our vision

A rink built around the families of Mapleton.

A year-round, community-owned ice arena in the heart of the valley — civic infrastructure that serves generations.

The story

It started with a 5am drive.

Every week, dozens of Mapleton families leave home before the sun is up and drive 45 minutes each way so their kids can skate. Hockey practices, figure-skating lessons, tournaments — all of it happening somewhere else.

That drive is a symptom of a bigger gap: our valley has grown faster than its community infrastructure. We have parks and fields, but no sheet of ice — and no civic gathering place that works in the middle of winter.

The Mapleton Ice Arena is how we close that gap. Built by the community, for the community, to last for generations.

What we're building

Four pillars, one civic asset.

Each pillar addresses a real, measured need in our community. Together, they justify the build.

01

Youth athletics, local

A home sheet of ice for youth hockey, figure skating, and travel teams — no more pre-dawn drives up I-15.
02

Learn-to-skate for everyone

Affordable introductory programs so every kid in Mapleton, regardless of background, can try skating.
03

A year-round gathering place

Open skate, birthday parties, school events, and date nights — a civic hub that runs twelve months a year.
04

Built for the long haul

A financially sustainable facility, run as a community asset, designed to serve Mapleton for generations.

Concept preview

A facility designed to belong here.

Architectural renderings and site plans are in development. Here's the concept we're designing around.

Main rink

NHL-regulation sheet with spectator seating for 600 and full dasher-board sponsorship.

Studio ice

Secondary studio sheet for learn-to-skate, private lessons, and small-group training.

Community lobby

Two-story lobby with a café, pro shop, birthday-party rooms, and the permanent donor wall.

Visual placeholders — architectural renderings will be shared as they are finalized with the design team.

Roadmap

Where we are, where we're going.

Our plan is transparent and milestone-based. Every phase opens when the previous phase closes.

  2. Phase 02 · 2026

    Capital campaign & design

Public fundraising, architectural design, and finalizing site plans on the community campus.
  3. Phase 03 · 2027

    Groundbreaking & construction

Site prep, construction, and programming launch partnerships with local clubs and schools.
  4. Phase 04 · 2028

    Doors open

Learn-to-skate, youth hockey, figure skating, adult leagues, and public skate — all in Mapleton.

Community voices

This project belongs to our neighbors.

We drive 45 minutes each way, four days a week, so our kids can skate. A rink in Mapleton would change our entire family's life.

Every community this size should have a rink. It's not a luxury — it's a place where kids learn to show up, work hard, and belong.

Help us build it

Every gift, every brick, every family matters.

The vision is clear. The need is real. Now we need our neighbors.
